Enterprise Application Integrations (EAI)

The Landscape of Integration architecture is shifting toward service oriented and cloud base architecture

Enterprise architectures and integrators are tuning to light weight infrastructure to support complex integration projects. Many adopters of Platform as a Service and cloud computing are sold on the promise of faster integrating development. Early cloud adopters has found that need for speed was the biggest pitfall of the process. Organisations fail to see the potential dangers of rushing to deploy cloud applications. These organisations were at risk for critical oversight as routine requirements and testing were ignored.  The lesson learnt from this approach that organisations should not compromise sound software development process in exchange for speedy integration development.

As cloud computing architecture gains ground, middleware integration challenges loom ahead. Cloud application integration known as Integration Platform as a Service iPaaS includes a broad range of fusion middleware services (SOA suite – process integration and B2B integration, BPM process management, AIA foundation and SOA Goverance) proving effective for successful cloud integration. But iPaaS comes with its own challenges particularly security and data handling issues.

Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) are important part in the integration design of an application integration. The APIs should be designed for more flexibility and tolerance to sudden changes. To that end, APIs should support REpresentational State Transfer (REST) interfaces, which require a general design approach to allow workability in a wide variety of situations. The idea is that the design should be absolutely application neutral and as general as possible.

As cloud and mobile applications continue to spread, achieving the common approach in API design while ensuring that REST is used only where it will work well.  This is crucial to successful integration architecture and design. A lot of things have to come together to build a cloud enterprise application. Our approach takes the time to carefully plan the best design methods for the cloud based application platform frameworks and services. Integration is the result of a good architecture, it’s not the other way around.
